Cougars Fall To Aurora In MLC Opener

River Forest, Ill.- The Concordia-Chicago men's lacrosse team closed out their four game homestand this afternoon against Aurora University.  Unfortunately for the Cougars, Aurora jumped on them quickly and didn't let up to cruise to a 29-0 victory.

Hunter Combe led Concordia-Chicago with five shots and four groundballs.  Jack Liskey made 15 saves on the afternoon.

Right out of the gate, Aurora's offensive attack got on the scoreboard early and often scoring three goals in the two minutes of the game.  CUC had a chance when Benjamin Lang received a nice pass in the middle of the field, but was saved.  The Spartans attack remained determined to put more in the back of the net as they finished off the first quarter leading 8-0.  In the second, AU scored nine more goals to take a 17-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was much of the same, but the Cougars did hold possession in the offensive zone and had opportunities to score.  The best scoring chance for CUC was when Lang hit a cutting Combe, but the AU goalkeeper made a great save to keep the Cougars scoreless.  AU closed out the game winning by the final score of 29-0

Concordia-Chicago (1-4, 0-1 MLC) will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Mount Vernon, IA to take on Cornell College.  Face-off is set for 1:00pm.
