Cougar Women Welcome Edgewood To Geiseman Tomorrow

River Forest, Ill. – After dropping their first NACC contest of the year, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team is set to close their three game homestand against the Edgewood College Eagles inside Geiseman Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
 
Opening Up: The Cougars welcome the Edgewood College Eagles into Geiseman Gymnasium for a Saturday afternoon contest. CUC is 16-9 at home since 2016. CUC looks to start NACC play 3-1 for the second straight season, while Edgewood College looks to improve to 2-0 in the NACC for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
 
Series Stackup: The Cougars and Eagles have met 13 times since 2009, and the Eagles own a 10-3 record over CUC during that span. The series has been played tight over the last three seasons, with Edgewood winning three of the last five. CUC fell to Edgewood 72-69 last season inside Geiseman Gymnasium.
 
About the Eagles:  Edgewood College is off to a 3-0 start to begin the 2018-19 season, winning non-conference games against Lake Forest and Beloit. They then defeated Lakeland University in their home opener last Saturday. The Eagles are averaging 71 points per game as a team which ranks them first in the NACC. Brooke Lonigro has been a key distributor of the basketball for the Eagles, her six assists per game average ranks 18th in the NCAA. Maryn Ferron leads the Edgewood offense. She averages 14.4 points per game this season, and is shooting 52.6 percent from behind the arc.
 
About the Cougars:  The Concordia-Chicago Cougars look to recover after a tough loss to Concordia Wisconsin on Tuesday night. CUC continues to be strong defensively, ranking in the top half of the NACC in almost every category. Crystal Corr has helped the Cougars on both ends of the floor this season. The junior is averaging eight points and eight rebounds per game, while ranking fifth in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game as well. Michaela Thornton has also been a big contributor to the Cougar defense this season. She ranks seventh in the NACC with 3.0 steals per game.
 
Up Next: The Cougars hit the road for their next two games, beginning with Wisconsin Lutheran College on Tuesday night. CUC will not return to Geiseman Gymnasium till after Christmas on December 29.
