River Forest, Ill. – After picking up their second conference win of the season against Marian, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team took to the floor against rival Concordia Wisconsin in a rivalry showdown. It was all Falcons from the start, downing CUC by a final score of 68-35.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Crystal Corr finished with a team high 12 points and nine rebounds on the night.
- CUC scored 22 of their 35 points in the paint.
- CUW outscored CUC 31-7 in points off of turnovers.
In the first quarter, the Falcons opened on a 5-0 run before
Sam Bloom got the Cougars on the board. Unfortunately for CUC, that would be the last time they would find the bottom of the net in the quarter, as CUW built a 21-2 advantage after the first ten minutes.
Bloom and Corr tried to get the Cougar offense going early in the second quarter, but the Falcons were able to build their lead to 37-14 at the half.
Corr and
Ashley Measel helped to get CUC going in the third quarter, with Measel hitting a three. CUC got points by
Annika Rae in the fourth, but the Cougars ultimately would fall to CUW by a 68-35 final score.
The Cougars will return to the floor inside Geiseman Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. They will take on Edgewood College with opening tip set for 2:00pm.
