Setting the Scene... Concordia-Chicago welcomes NACC foe Marian University to Geiseman Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The Cougars are coming off a 95-86 loss to conference rival CUW last week and are hoping to secure a win and remain among the top teams in the league.
Scouting the Sabres... Marian is one of two teams undefeated in conference play. With a 2-1 record on the year, the Sabres are 1-0 in the NACC with a 71-67 win over Benedictine last week. Senior Tyrese Pinson leads the Sabres' offense with 11 assists and a 41.7 shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
Series Stackup... The two NACC opponents last met in January, where Marian slipped past CUC with a 84-83 overtime win. With a historically tight match up, the Cougars last defeated the Sabres in February of 2017, 80-77.
Pelissier's Point... Senior Mitch Pelissier is the driving force in CUC's offense, as well as the team's leader. In his first three games this season, he is averaging 21.3 points per game, which is good for a team high, and also the highest among the NACC.
Aren't You Glad?... Freshman Landen Gladney has stepped into an immediate impact role for the Cougars in his early tenure at CUC. In his first three games in maroon and gold, the Chicago native has tallied three double-doubles, combining for 40 rebounds and 47 points. Across the conference, he is second in the league with 13.3 rebounds per game. Gladney's double-double against Kalamazoo was the first for a Cougar on opening night since Kris Claybon did so in 2015.
