River Forest, Ill. -- On Homecoming Saturday, Concordia Chicago (9-12, 4-4 NACC) took on Edgewood College (8-13, 5-4 NACC). The Cougars would look for their second straight win after defeating Rockford University. CUC came out firing, taking the big NACC contest in straight sets.

Jaylynn Johnson kills, the Cougars went on a 6-0 run to start off the first set. As the offense slowed down for the Cougars, the Eagles were able to bring the score within two with a score of 12-10. Edgewood would continue their streak and tie the game up 13-13. With things working out in Edgewood's favor, for the first time in set one, the Eagles would take the lead at 18-17.

A few streaks for the Eagles would bring them to set point. The Cougars, however, would go on a four-point run to take the score to 24-23, Edgewood. A Johnson kill along with good defense brought the score to 26-25, Concordia Chicago. With a block by
Shannon Stamp, the Cougars would take set one, 28-26.

To start off set two, the Cougars started off strong again with a 5-0 run. Just as they did in set one, the Eagles would bring the score within three at 11-8. After numerous changes in momentum, the Cougars pulled away by six points at 19-13. A kill by
Kelly Gootee and an ace from Stamp brought the score to 23-14. With
Julia Spitelli's third kill of the day, the Cougars were at set point. Concordia Chicago pulled out the win for set two with a score of 25-18 to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.Â
For the third consecutive set, the Cougars started off strong, only allowing one point with a score of 9-1. This included a block from Gootee and Stamp along with a kill from Johnson that brought her total on the day to 11. An ace from
Julia Beers brought the score to 14-6, then the Eagles were able to pull within three at 15-12. After some defensive miscues and a strong run from Edgewood, the Eagles were able to bring the game to a tie at 22-22. A huge kill from Johnson and a block from Stamp brought the game to match point at 24-22. The Cougars were able to take set three with a score of 25-23, giving them the sweep on the day.
Johnson led CUC with 13 kills on the day. As a team CUC finished with 11 aces and blocks on the day. Gootee led the team with 12 assists.

th against Wisconsin Lutheran College (14-5, 5-0 NACC).
