April 10, 2017- The Concordia-Chicago men's lacrosse team came into the match against Northland College looking for their first win of the season. Northland's first year as a program, the opportunity was there to build some momentum for the last part of the season. Unfortunately, the Lumberjacks grabbed an early lead and didn't look back as they won by the final score of 20-5.
The Cougars showed fight early on in the game led by
Corey Sheehan scoring a man-up goal and
Jacob Karmia scoring his fifth on the season that cut the Northland's lead to 3-2 midway through the first quarter. However, Northlands's Joseph Hofer scored three straight goals to pull away from CUC and deny any confidence the Cougars had. The first half ended with the Lumberjacks scoring nine of the next ten goals to lead 12-3.
In the second half, the Lumberjacks stiffened up on defense only allowing two goals in the half, while growing their lead. Those two goals by the Cougars were scored by
Brett Krueger and
Johnathan Daniels. Northland closed out the game winning by the final score of 20-5.
Concordia-Chicago were led on offense by Karmia with two goals on the day. Goalkeeper
Alex Pankey had a good day in net, despite giving up twenty goals by making twenty-two saves.
The Cougars (0-9, 0-3 MLC) return to action Wednesday, April 12th, as they travel to Lisle, IL to take on Benedictine University. Face-off is set for 7:00pm.
