Cougars Can't Overcome Early Deficit

March 29, 2017- The Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse team traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin this afternoon to take on a tough Carthage team, who is currently undefeated at home on the season.  Losers of the last six games, the Cougars looked to regain their form from the beginning of the season, winning two of their first three games.  Unfortunately for CUC, the Lady Reds jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back as they used a big first half to win easily by the final score 16-4.

Within the first ten minutes of the game, Carthage jumped out to a 7-0 lead led by Kendell Santin, who scored three of the goals.  The Cougars got on the board midway through the first half on a Sydney Fuller goal from inside the circle.  Fuller scored two of the three Cougar goals in the first half, but it wasn't enough to cut into the Carthage lead, as the Lady Reds took a 10-3 lead heading into halftime.  The second half didn't get much better for Concordia-Chicago.  Carthage continued to keep the Cougars out of the offensive zone for most of the half with their defensive pressure.  The Lady Reds let their defense lead to offense as they outscored CUC 6-1 in the second half and win by the final score of 16-4.

The leading scorer for the Cougars was Fuller who had two goals on the day.  Margaret Doane also had a goal and an assist.  For the Lady Reds, Kendell Santin had a game high five goals, followed by Maddie Grffin who had four goals and chipped in three assists.

The Cougars (2-8, 0-6 MWLC) return to action this Saturday looking for their first conference win in program history as they host Monmouth College.  Face-off is set for 12:00pm.
