Cougar Men Unable to Tame the Tigers

March 29, 2017 - A difficult home stand for the Concordia-Chicago men's lacrosse team continued this afternoon as they hosted DePauw University from Greencastle, IN. The Tigers came out roaring as they scored nine goals in the first quarter.and never looked back in a 23-3 victory over the Cougars.

The Tigers wasted no time as Austin McDonald scored just 12 seconds after the opening faceoff. William Dorger then scored the first of his four goals less than a minute later for a 2-0 lead. DePauw added two more tallies before Brett Krueger got CUC on the board with his eighth of the season, catching the goalie by surprise with a twisting, off-balance shot. However, the Tigers came back with five goals to finish the quarter with a 9-1 lead.

DePauw continued to dominate in the second quarter, firing 18 shots to CUC's four, and the Cougars faced their largest halftime deficit of the year at 18-1.

The third quarter saw just three goals scored, one by the Cougars' Corey Sheehan who tallied his fifth goal in the last three games. The fourth quarter saw DePauw score their final two goals while Krueger added a final tally for the Cougars on their only man-up situation of the game.

Concordia-Chicago will complete the four-game home stand on Saturday when they host Cornell College of Iowa.
