Cougars Come Up Short Against Dubuque

March 18, 2017- After enjoying a 17-day break, including the spring break, the Concordia-Chicago Cougar Men's Lacrosse team would finally return to action inside Concordia Stadium this afternoon. They would welcome the University of Dubuque Spartans into town for a non-conference match. CUC would hang tough throughout the game, but a 5-0 fourth quarter turned the game completely one sided, leading to the 19-6 final score.

Early on, Dubuque rattled off the first four goals of the contest, before Brett Krueger found the net for CUC midway through the first quarter. Krueger then added a man up goal just under three minutes later. Corey Sheehan jumped in the scoring with this third of the season with 11:48 remaining in the second quarter. Alex Pankey helped to keep CUC in it, making 12 saves in the first half and 21 for the game, with eight of those coming in the second quarter.

CUC trailed 8-3 at the half. DeMond Menefee would score two second half goals, while Krueger would add his third of the match in the third quarter, but Dubuque would continue to apply pressure with their strong attack throughout the second half, leading to the 19-6 final score.

The Cougars will play the second game of their season long four game home-stand on Wednesday when they are set to square off with Trine University at 4 p.m. from Concordia Stadium.
