Game Notes: Cougars Ready To Take On La Verne Out West

The Cougars got off to a rousing 5-0 start before hitting a couple of potholes last week against Benedictine and Edgewood. They saw leads get away in both those games, and the three-point shooting was ice cold (a combined 8-36, 22 percent). Taylor Jacobsen continues to lead CUC in scoring with 20.4 points per game, and Courtney Lofink is coming off a fine 14-point, six-rebound and six-assist game versus Edgewood on Saturday.

The Leopards enter tonight's game playing their third contest in as many nights. They are 2-5 on the year, although last night's game produced their second win, 90-83 over La Sierra. Guard Clarissa Perez is scoring 24.9 points per game, and what a line she had last night - 44 points (10-18 shooting including 6-9 on threes, 18-21 at the FT line) and 10 rebounds. Word has it that LaVerne is a very up-tempo team, but we suspect that Rusty Rogers' team will be ready to run with them!

Following tonight's game, both our basketball teams will be off until Saturday, Dec. 30 when they play a NACC doubleheader at Marian University. The first week of January will resume a busy schedule for both teams, including the return of the River Forest Rivalry Cup when Dominican plays host to games on the Tuesday and Wednesday of that week.
