Cougars' Attack Out of Sync in Dual Match Losses

Sept. 26, 2015- On a day they were looking to build on the momentum of the big conference opening win, the Concordia University Chicago volleyball team found themselves searching for points in the dual match losses to both North Central College 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-17) and host Wisconsin Platteville 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-13).

In the first match of the day, the Cougars fell quickly in set one, but would battle tough in set two before falling by a 25-23 score. They would never trail by more than the two points needed to win the set. The Cougar attack was led by Austin Thompson (Morris, IL/Morris Community H.S.) continuing to keep pace for the lead for kills in the conference. She finished with 14 kills in the first match.

Multiple attack errors spelled trouble for the Cougars throughout both of the matches. What had been the Cougars' strong point on Wednesday - the serving -  went cold today with just five aces between the two matches.

The second match would be much of the same for Concordia-Chicago. No Cougar hitter finished with more than six kills for the match. Nicole Inwards (Waltham, MN/Blooming Prairie) played a strong match for the Cougars, particularly defensively, as she finished with 14 digs and two serving aces.

The Cougars will have a quick turnaround to get ready for a week that features two NACC matchups, the first of those on the road at Aurora University on Tuesday evening. They will then return to Geiseman Gymnasium on Friday night to face MSOE.
