April 4, 2015 – The Cougars hosted a NACC doubleheader on Easter Saturday in River Forest against Alverno College. The first game of the afternoon saw CUC prevail 8-0 in a chilly dust storm. The second game saw the Inferno managing a 5-1 win for a series split.

In game one,Â
Meghan Johnson (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard West) pitched a complete game for the victory. She shut out the Inferno and only faced 23 batters over six innings with three hits, four strikeouts and one walk.

Emmy Vowell's (Peotone, IL/H.S.) double was the Cougars' only offense over the first three innings but, in the fourth inning. the hitting picked up. With the bases loaded and two out, . Vowell doubled again to leftfield scoring two runs. She was followed by
Stefanie D'Anna (LaGrange Park, IL/Lyons Township) who also doubled in two runs, giving CUC a 4-0 lead.

Leading off the bottom of the fifth inning,Â
Alicia Salata (Bartlett, IL/H.S.) walked and was moved to second by a Johnson single to center. Both players moved up a base on a wild pitch, and
Michele Alexander (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) reached on a fielder's choice that scored Salata.

Leading 5-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars needed to get three runs to end the game or three Inferno outs in the top of the seventh. Concordia-Chicago decided on the three runs. Vowell completed her 3-3 hitting game with a leadoff single. D'Anna successfully bunted and
Allison Kruk (Elgin, IL/St Edward) reached on an error that scored Vowell with no outs. A successful double steal allowed
Jenni Jensen (Chicago, IL/Luther North) to sacrifice in D'Anna for an RBI and a 7-0 lead with one out and one run needed. Salata singled, but Kruk was held at third base. Johnson helped herself to victory by reaching on a fielder's choice as the shortstop's throw was too late to get Kruk..

In game two, it was relatively quiet till the fourth inning when Alverno took a 1-0 lead. Concordia-Chicago stranded two runners in the bottom of the fourth but couldn't plate a run. In the fifth, the Inferno plated two more runs. In the bottom of the fifth with two outs
Jenni Jensen (Chicago, IL/Luther North) tripled to right field. She made it home on a wild pitch to claw back a run for the Cougars. Unfortunately, Alverno got two insurance runs in the seventhfor a 5-1 victory.

The Cougars next games are on Monday as they play Wisconsin Lutheran College at the Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, WI. Game times have been moved up as well with the first game starting at 2 p.m..
