The outcome enabled the Eagles to wrap up an undefeated conference season while the Cougars finished 4-7 in NACC play.

The Cougars fell victim to too many attack errors, beginning with the opening set. Three errors led to the Eagles jumping out to a 10-3 lead, and they would sustain a comfprtable margin throughout the remainder of set one.

Concordia-Chicago was able to pick up the pace in the middle set. Edgewood shot to a 12-4 lead, but Jackie Bartnicki (Chicago, IL/Guerin Prep) served five consecutive points to bring the Cougars back. The Cougars stayed close with kills from Raven Burns (Shorewood, IL/Minooka) and Mary Arredia (Franlin Park, IL/West Leyden), but Edgewood hit .303 with 13 kills to remain in the lead and eventually take a 2-0 lead in the match.

In set three, the Eagles led 8-3 when CUC put together a 6-2 burst. Arredia and Anna Kellar (Collinsville, IL/Metro-East Lutherran) knocked down kill shots, and Olivia Friedrichs (San Diego, CA/Clairemont) to pull CUC within a single point. But the hosts' hitting remained steady, this time recording 11 kills with a .290 as they controlled tthe play right up to the final pont.

The Cougars wqere limited to just 18 kills (led by Arredia's five) against 23 errors for the match. The Eagles had 35 kills against just nine errors and hit .289 for the match.
