Long Road Comes to End for Cougar Volleyball

Sept. 14, 2014 - The Concordia-Chicago volleyball team will be more than ready to play at Geiseman Gymnasium on Tuesday night after a string of 11 road matches to start the season came to an end on Saturday. The road to Indiana this weekend was not kind as the Cougars dropped four matches at the DePauw Tigers Invitational to fall to 3-8 on the season.

The weekend began with a three-set loss (15-25, 7-25, 13-25) to Defiance College on Friday morning and continued with a loss (11-25, 12-25, 16-25) to Baldwin-Wallace University. Saturday's play included a 19-25, 15-25, 15-25 loss to Hanover College and, finally, a 23-25, 19-25, 14-25 loss to Rose-Hulman Institute.

The offense was limited during the four matches with Kaylyn Anderson's (East Chicago, IN/Whiting) 32 kills leading the team. Setter Jackie Bartnicki (Chicago, IL/Guerin Prep) chimed in with 42 assists, 26 digs and six aces. Angela Hennig's (Springfield, IL/Springfield Lutheran) 40 digs led the defensive effort.
