Box Score Dec. 17, 2014 –
Tyson Burch (Cooper City, FL – H.S.), strong safety for the Concordia University Chicago football team, was named an NCAA Division III Freshman All-Star by USA College Football for the 2014 season.
Burch (Cooper City, FL - H.S.) played and started seven games and finished third on the team with 53.5 total tackles (42-23). The strong safety quickly built a reputation as an impact player with three interceptions, one of which was returned 33 yards for a touchdown in CUC's Sept. 20 game against Alma College. Burch also forced four fumbles, one of which he also recovered to trigger the Cougars' winning touchdown drive against Aurora University on Nov. 1.
"I'm very happy for Tyson receiving this recognition," said
Randy Awrey, Concordia-Chicago head football coach. "Tyson is an exciting player who is capable of changing a game with a big tackle or a defensive takeaway. We look forward to what he will bring to our program over the next three years."
