Sept. 15, 2012 - Three second-half goals by the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons broke a halftime tie and sent the home team to a 4-1 win over the Concordia-Chicago Cougars in Northern Athletics Conference men's soccer action this afternoon.
The Cougars were handed a 1-0 lead just 2:36 into the match when a ball was misplayed by a Falcons' defender into the net. But the Falcons came back to tie in the 19th minute on Tyler Harris' strike.
A penalty kick by Jacob Pope gave CUW the lead in the 52nd minute. Pope scored again in the 64th minute and completed his hat trick in the 77th minute.
Jorge Guzman (Cicero, IL/Morton East) made seven saves in goal for the Cougars as they were outshot by the Falcons 18-10.
Alex Lopez (Streamwood, IL/H.S.) had two of the Cougars' six shots on goal and three of the 10 overall shots.
Brendan Mullane (Park Ridge, IL/Maine South) and
DeAndre McLaurin (Joliet, IL/Joliet West) were credited with two shots each.
The Cougars (0-6, 0-5 NAC) will return home on Tuesday to host the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
