Cougar Football Maintains #2 Spot in Second NCAA III Regional Rankings

Box Score
Nov. 7, 2012 - The Concordia University Chicago football Cougars remained in the number two position in the North Region according to the NCAA Division III's latest rankings. Today's rankings will be the final ones before the NCAA announces its playoff pairings this Sunday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m., Chicago time.
Concordia (9-0, 6-0 Northern Athletics Conference) maintained its high ranking with its playoff-clinching 37-3 win over Lakeland College on Nov. 3. The North Region saw several changes from last week after the previously third and fourth-ranked teams, North Central College and Wabash College, both lost last weekend. Concordia remains behind top-seeded University of Mount Union (9-0) while the 3-5 positions are claimed by Elmhurst College (8-1), Heidelberg University (8-1) and Wittenberg University (8-1). The entire group of regional rankings can be viewed at http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/d3.
"We are excited to maintain our high ranking and we feel that, if we can win this Saturday (at Maranatha Baptist Bible College), a 10-0 record and a number two regional position can hopefully give us a favorable draw on Sunday night," said Lonnie Pries, seventh-year Concordia-Chicago head coach. "Right now, we want to focus on winning at Maranatha, although we will be keeping our eyes on some of the other regional games this weekend as well."
