Box Score Oct. 17, 2012 – Concordia University Chicago running back
Andrew Maddox (Gainesville, FL/P.K. Yonge H.S.) has earned a pair of honors for his performance in the Cougars' 47-44 overtime win at Concordia University Wisconsin on Oct. 13.
Maddox was named the Football (Offense) Student-Athlete of the Week (Oct. 8-14) by the Northern Athletics Conference. The third-year back was also named to the national “Team of the Week” by D3football.com.
Entering the game with a career-high rushing game of 120 yards, Maddox carried 40 times for 355 yards. He scored on runs of two and three yards and had what would have been a game-winning run of 18 yards in the overtime called back because of a penalty. Maddox accounted for over half of the Cougars' record 683 yards of offense and was largely responsible for new team records of 24 rushing first downs and 35 total first downs.
“Andrew's progress this season has added another dimension to our offense,” said
Lonnie Pries, Concordia University Chicago head football coach. “It was great to see him come up big in a game of that magnitude. His ability to handle a career-high number of carries and protect the football should not be overlooked, and we are all thrilled for him that he was able to deliver in that setting.”
