Oct. 25, 2011 - Concordia Chicago's men's soccer team wrapped up the 2011 season this afternoon with a 6-0 loss to defending conference champion Dominican University on the Stars' home field.

The Cougars came out with some good energy at the start and created a couple of chances, The best opportunity came on Anthony Giammanco's (Bartlett, IL/South Elgin) shot from the top of the box that carried over the crossbar.

Dominican broke through in the 19th minute as Lio Tovar threaded a pass into the box to Ryan Ybarra. Senior keeper John Gehm (Frankenmuth, MI/H.S.) came out to challenge, but Ybarra's shot hit the far post and caromed into the net.

The Stars followed with two more goals over the next seven minutes, the first coming off of a couple of one-touch passes and the second on a header in front of the goal. Dominican led 3-0 at the half and added goals in the 53rd, 65th and 69th minutes to close out their victory and finish 11-0 in conference play.

Concordia finishes with a 3-14-1 overall record, 2-8-1 conference record. The team will bid farewell to seven seniors - Gehm, Kevin Devrient (North Ridgeville, OH/H.S.), Kevin Hughes (Itasca, IL/Lake Park), Chris Jahns (Roselle, IL/Lake Park), Ben Klingberg (LaGrange Park, IL/Lyons Township), Abel Sauer (Chicago, IL/DeLaSalle) and James Zinni (Roselle, IL/Lake Park).
