Oct. 1, 2011 - Two goals in a four-minute span broke open a close contest as Concordia-Chicago lost 6-2 to Lakeland College in men's soccer action this afternoon in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Lakeland struck twice in the first 17 minutes, but the visitors pulled one back in the 38th minute as DeAndre McLaurin (Joliet, IL/Joliet West) scored unassisted. The goal was one of just three Cougar shots in the first half but kept Concordia within striking distance at the half.
The Muskies scored early in the second half, but McLaurin answered again in the 53rd minute. Assisted by Brendan Mullane (Park Ridge, IL/Maine South), McLaurin netted his fourth goal in the last five matches to bring the Cougars within a goal at 3-2.
Jeremy Hardy came to the Muskies' rescue, scoring twice within a four-minute span and bringing an end to Jorge Guzman's (Cicero, IL/Morton East) day after 63 minutes. Guzman gave way to John Gehm (Frankenmuth, MI/H.S.) who played the final 27 minutes and allowed Lakeland's final tally in the 73rd minute.
Concordia's men (1-10-0, 0-5-0 NAC) will host Aurora university on Thursday afternoon at 4:00.
