Eagles' Three Second-Half Goals Ground Cougar Men

Box Score
Sept. 25, 2010 - A defensive struggle in the first half of Saturday's men's soccer match between Concordia-Chicago and Edgewood was decided early in the second half. Edgewood netted two goals in a four-minute span and added a late tally to defeat Concordia 3-0 at Breese-Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin.
The host Eagles outshot the Cougars 8-3 in the first half, but Concordia keeper Bart Loos (Evans, NY/St. Francis) made three saves to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard. For Concordia, freshman Kyle Joss (St, Charles, IL/St. Charles North) had the lone scoring opportunity of the half, but his shot was denied by EDgewood keeper Kyle Koenig.
The scoreless deadlock was ended in the 53rd minute as Edgewood's Greg Dezell's header from six yards out beat Loos. The lead then doubled in the 56th minute as Andrew Aurit beat Concordia's defenders to a loose ball in the box and fired into the net.
Tyler Bauer scored in the 86th minute to clinch the game for the hosts. The Eagles finished with a total of 12 second-half shots to the Cougars' seven.
Concordia (2-5-2, 0-1-1 NAC) will finish their busy stretch of four matches in five days on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 when they host Franklin College from Indiana.
