Two Second-Half Goals Down Cougar Men in Lake Forest

Box Score

Sept. 14, 2010 - A pair of goals four minutes apart in the second half made the difference in this afternoon's men's soccer game between Concordia University Chicago and Lake Forest College. Both goals were scored by Lake Forest's Mahir Mameledzija, and they held up in the host's 3-1 victory.

The Foresters peppered the Cougars' goal with 12 first-half shots. Keeper Bart Loos (Evans, NY/St. Francis) made five saves, but the one that got by him came off the foot of Jerrold Rosema in the 26th minute. The Cougars were unable to mount an attack in the half, and they went to the locker room trailing 1-0.

Concordia pushed the attack more in the second half, but Mameledzija nullified the Cougars' momentum with his goals in the 54th and 58th minutes. The Cougars got one goal back in the 66th minute on Chayanne Martinez's (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown) first of the season, but the Foresters stiffened the defense and kept the Cougars from scoring any more during the remaining minutes.

The Cougars (0-3-1) will play at Illinois College in Jacksonville on Friday afternoon. This is a makeup from the originally scheduled Sept. 3 date.
