Jamel Gray (Jacksonville, Fla.) of the Concordia-Chicago football team is honored for the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6.
           
Gray made two takeaways on defense in the Cougars’ 31-14 win over Concordia Wisconsin Nov. 5. His first-quarter fumble recovery led to a touchdown that gave the hosts a 10-7 lead. In the fourth quarter, with the Falcons threatening to take the lead, Gray intercepted a pass and returned it 86 yards for a touchdown that put the Cougars up 24-14. The linebacker also recorded two tackles for minus-yardage including the Cougars’ lone sack of the day. 
           
Gray, the son of Estella Gray, is a 2011 graduate of Orange Park High School in Florida. He is a freshman sports management major.
