Carlos Olavarria (Rosemont, IL) of the baseball team is honored for the week of April 7-13.
Olavarria spearheaded the Cougars’ powerful offensive attack in a 13-7, 16-12 sweep of Edgewood College on April 12. The third baseman went 7-9 with five doubles, five runs scored and five RBIs. For the season, Olavarria is hitting .409 with a team-leading 38 hits. His .462 slugging percentage is highest among the Cougars’ everyday players.
Olavarria, the son of Carlos Olavarria and Marybeth Burgos, is a 2011 graduate of East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL. He is a junior sport and fitness major.
