Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, MI) of the women’s cross-country team is honored for the week of Sept. 2-8.

Schmidt set a new Concordia-Chicago women’s record in the 6K run, turning in a 23:09.3 at the Aurora Spartan Invitational on Sept. 6. Her time eclipsed her previous best of 23:15 set last season at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Schmidt finished 12^th overall out of 161 runners and helped the Cougar women to a seventh place team finish.

Schmidt, the daughter of Tyson and Sharon Schmidt, is a 2009 graduate of Frankenmuth High School in Frankenmuth, Michigan. She is a senior physical education and exercise science major.
