Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, MI) of the women’s cross-country team is honored for the week of Oct. 1-7.
            
Schmidt broke her own 6K record at the Oct. 5 Benedictine Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville. She crossed the finish line at 23:20.47, a 15-second improvement over her previous best time from earlier this season. Schmidt finished eighth out of 124 runners and helped the Cougar women to a sixth-place finish among 12 teams.

Schmidt, the daughter of Tyson and Sharon Schmidt, is a 2009 graduate of Frankenmuth High School in Frankenmuth, Mich.
She is a senior (junior eligibility) with a double major of physical education and exercise science.
