Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, MI) of the women’s track team is honored for the week of May 7-13.

Schmidt ran a 37:52.56 in the 10,000-meter race at the May 10-11 Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College. Her time was just four seconds off her record set April 6 at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships despite the fact that she had competed in a half-marathon just four days prior to the meet.

Schmidt, the daughter of Tyson and Sharon Schmidt, is a 2009 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. She is a junior physical education major.
