A specialist in orthopaedic sports medicine, Aravind Athiviraham, MD cares for patients with athletic and overuse injuries of the knee and shoulder. He is skilled in minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. In addition, he has received advanced training in reconstructive procedures of the knee and shoulder. 

Dr. Athiviraham is a graduate of McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Queen's University Faculty of Medicine in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He subsequently completedf a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at Cleveland Clinic in mCleveland, OH and a fellowship in Knee and Shoulder surgery at Insall Scott Kelly Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in New York, NY. Dr. Athiviraham is ABOS board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. 

An active contributor to medical literature, Dr. Athiviraham has presented and published numerous scientific articles and book chapters on ligament injuries and cartilage restorative procedures of the knee and shoulder. He has served as faculty at arthroscopic shoulder and knee courses organized by the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is also a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and member of the Editorial Board for the Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. He is currentrly a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Education Committee. In addition, he has served as a team physician for several professional and college sports teams. 

Dr. Athiviraham is dedicated to the care of his patients and stays up-to-date on the latest techniques in sports medicine. He enjoys getting to know his patients and working with them to choose the best treatment option by fostering a combined patient-physician decision-making approach.
