Bryson Butler joined the Cougar men’s basketball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach in the spring of 2024.
Coach Butler comes to Concordia University after spending his collegiate career at Union University and Kishwaukee College. Butler was voted team captain by his peers as a freshman, sophomore, and senior.
In his Union University debut, Butler posted 31 points on 8-10 from the field against Spring Hill. As a junior, he had a poster dunk that peaked at #5 on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10. He was named GSC Player of the Week.
As a sophomore, Butler averaged 17.4 PPG, 7.6 APG, and 6.7 RPG while leading his team to a #15 national ranking. During that sophomore campaign, he was named the National Player of the Week twice, 1st Team All-Conference, and Region IV Player of the Week three times. Butler posted a career high 35 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists against Sauk Valley in his second of two triple doubles as a sophomore; the third of his collegiate career.
Prior to Kishwaukee, Butler prepped at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago where he was named a Chicago Public League All Star, Chicago Hoops Classic All Star, 1st Team All-Conference(Red North), and All-Area Honorable Mention.
Butler graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Union in May of 2021.
Most recently, Butler has spent the last few years working as an Analyst for the Department of Labor. In addition, he has served as a Basketball Skills Development Coach, working with professional, collegiate, and high school athletes.
Butler brings over 20 years of basketball experience to River Forest. He has been around the game his entire life, having grown up with Chicago Basketball Coaching Legend, Larry Butler, as his father.
