Bryan Powlen is in his first year as a volunteer assistant coach for the CUC track & field program.
Powlen attended Brown University where he enjoyed a successful athletic career as a thrower. He was a two-time (2009, 2010) Ivy League champion and NCAA Division I qualifier in the discus but also competed in the shot put with a top throw of 58' 3".
Powlen continued his training after graduation in the discus,recording a lifetime-best mark of 206' 0" in 2014. He is a two-time USA National Championship qualifier, highlighted by winning a silver medal at the 2014 USA Outdoor National Championships. In 2012 and 2016, Powlen was also an Olympic Trials competitor.
A native of Grass Creek, IN, Powlen earned his BA in organic chemistry from Brown in 2010. Â
