Amanda Gricus

Amanda Gricus joined the CUC staff in 2017 as an assistant coach. Her primary responsibility will be working with the throwers.

A native of Narragansett, Rhode Island, Gricus began her track and field career as a hurdler at Old Rochester High School in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. The wear and tear of the event caused her to switch to throws early in her career at Westfield State University. She went on to master the hammer and 20-lb. weight throw, becoming a two-time Division III national qualifier in the weight throw (2011, 2012) and a national qualifier for the hammer in 2011 highlighted by earning All-American honors via a second-place finish in the weight throw in 2012. Gricus' senior year also brought her a conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, a Capital One Academic All-District first-team honor, and a second nomination for NCAA Woman of the Year.

Gricus moved to California after graduation and served as a throws coach for Corona Del Mar High School and the Cal Coast Track Club. but her position at CUC will be her first working for the college age level.

Gricus earned her undergraduate degrees in environmental science and regional planning from Westfield State in 2012. In December 2019, she completed her Master's work at CUC in secondary education/biology in hopes of someday teaching biology and coaching track and field at the high school level.
