Andrew Chizzo joined the Concordia University Chicago track and field staff in August of 2002.
Chizzo was a five-year Division I athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he excelled in the pole vault, hurdles, javelin, and decathlon. By his senior year of 1994, Chizzo was captain of the track team and recorded a 15'9" pole vault, a record that stood for the next 10 years. His mark of 170' 2" in the javelin, recorded that same year, remains among the school's top 10 in that event. He graduated in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design.
Chizzo has coached 23 All-Americans during his tenure at Concordia. Most recently he was part of the coaching staff that helped to guide Simone Wilson and Kayla Armstrong to three individual National Championships between the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Chizzo also helped coach Armstrong and Wilson qualify for the 2022 USA Championships held in Eugene, Oregon. He was also on the coaching staff that helped to lead the CUC Women’s Track & Field team to a #12 final national ranking in 2022. This success continued into the 2023 season, where Armstrong, Wilson, and Madeline Bobinski returned to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
Chizzo has also played a critical role in the growth of the women’s track and field program. Since he joined the staff in 2002, all but four school records have been broken between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Chizzo currently resides in Oak Park with his wife Sara and four daughters; Natalie, Evelyn, Audrey, and Vera.
