Dr. Joseph Sumrak

Dr. Joseph Sumrak is the Faculty Athletic Mentor for the Concordia-Chicago men's lacrosse team.

Dr. Sumrak is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Concordia University Chicago. He teaches Organic Chemistry, Fundamentals of chemistry and Consumer Chemistry. Dr. Sumrak;s areas of research and expertise include solid-state organic materials. Before coming to CUC in 2015, he taught at Luther College and Kansas State University (click here to read Dr. Sumrak's complete academic profile).

Dr. Sumrak's athletic backgrounds includes four years of wrestling and men's volleyball while in high school. He has competed in Amateur American Powerlifting Federation certified events while in college, and in USA Weightlifting certified events in 2013 and 2014. Currently, he is lifting to stay in shape and to keep up with two boys.Â
