Rickey Hampton

  • Title
    Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Rickey Hampton is in his fourth season as an assistant coach and head JV coach for the Concordia-Chicago men's basketball program.

Hampton's association with current CUC head coach Randy Rogers goes back to 2005 when he played two seasons at Valley Lutheran High School in Saginaw, MI. Hampton came back from an injury-plagued 2005-06 season to become a regular starter for Rogers his senior year and earn second-team honors for the Tri-Valley Conference West. That same year, the team showed a seven-win improvement from the previous year and made it to the district championship game before bowing out.

Hampton brings previous coaching experience from Grand Rapids (MI) Catholic Central High School. His team won the district and regional titles in all four of his years there and played in the Michigan state championships in 2011 and 2012.

Hampton played two years of basketball at Lane College in Jackson, TN before transferring to Central Michigan University in 2010 where he was a preferred walk-on. He earned a BA in sports management at Concordia-Chicago in 2018.
