Concordia University Chicago's competitive cheerleading and dance team, also known as the CU Dazzlers, are an integral part of CUC's athletic programs. The Dazzlers represent Concordia-Chicago at all home games for football and basketball, along with venerable mascot Charlie T. Cougar. The team also competes in regional and national cheerleading and dance competitions during the spring season.
Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT)
The capstone event of the athletic year for the Spirit Squad is CIT. This basketball tournament, held the last weekend of January, involves both men's and women's teams from the Concordias of Chicago, Ann Arbor (MI), Seward (NE) and Mequon (WI). The Spirit Squad cheers and dances at all of the games where Concordia-Chicago participates. Every four years, the tournament rotates to our campus. In January of 2001, CUC had the honor of hosting the 50th ("Golden") Anniversary of CIT.
Cheerleaders, dance teams, yell leaders, mascots and pep bands have always been an important part of the tournament and add to the excitement and festivities. In its long history, CIT has grown to be a cherished example of fellowship and spirited competition.
This year's CIT, the 67th, will be hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin on Jan. 26-27, 2018.
