LISLE, ILL. -- With the return of the Cougar Invitational for the first time since 2019, the Concordia University Chicago men's track and field team kicked things off with the throwing events.Â
- Three Cougars placed in the javelin throw as Miguel Sanchez (San Antonio, Texas) took gold in his first career javelin throw with a mark of 42.70m, Austin Jackson (Addis, La.) placed second with a mark of 37.26m, and Matthew Cardwell (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed third with a mark of 36.36m, a new personal best.Â
- The next gold finish for the Cougars came at the hands of Travon Thomas (Wauchula, Fla.) who threw a 33.34m mark in the hammer throw.
- Rounding out the first place finishes for the Cougars was Brandon Montford (Fairburn, Ga.) who picked it up with a 12.56m throw in shot put. Three Cougars also placed alongside him with Wykhir Jones (Milwaukee, Wis.) placed fourth with a 10.83m throw, Jackson placed fifth with a 9.42m throw, and Eli Likens (Richland, Mich.) placed sixth with an 8.87m throw.Â
- Closing the day in the discus, Likens, Thomas, Montford, and Jones all placed with a 32.24m throw, 29.47m throw, 26.38m throw, and 25.36m throw, respectively.Â
