KENOSHA, Wis. - The Cougar men's track and field team took on the Tadd Metzger Invite and Multis today, hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. The Cougars finished eighth of 13 teams, with multiple top-10 performances.
Notable Performances
- Miguel Sanchez (San Antonio, Texas) took third in the 600m, with a mark of 1:25.91, which is a personal record. Sanchez also finished seventh in the 200m, with a time of 23.46.
- The Cougars had two athletes finish in the top-five of the heptathlon. Matthew Cardwell (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished fourth while Vincent Scarnato (Pottstown, Pa.) finished just behind, in fifth. Cardwell set personal records in the 55m, 55m hurdles, pole vault, and 1000m, while Scarnato set personal bests in the 55m, high jump, 55m hurdles, and 1000m.
- In the 55m, Austin Knight (Forest Park, Ill.) took sixth with a time of 6.70.
- In the 1000m, Donovan Depakakibo (Norridge, Ill.) finished seventh in the 1000m, with a mark of 2:53.45.
- Dayton Merli (Union Mills, Ind.) set a personal mark of 3.80m (12' 5.5") in pole vault to finish seventh.
- In the 600m, Adrian Mendez (Plano, Ill.) took eighth with a personal best time of 1:30.28.
- Julian Switzer set a personal record in the long jump with a leap of 6.51m (21' 4.25") which secured ninth place. He also finished eighth in the 55m.
- Also in the field, Darius Strother (Joliet, Ill.) finished eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.62m (5' 3.75").
Cougar Personal Records
- Knight set a personal best time of 6.63 in the 55m preliminaries.
- Gael Arroyo (Cicero, Ill.) set a personal best mark in the 1000m run, while teammate Nathaniel Boksa set a personal best time in the 3000m.
- Depakakibo ran a 4:55.04 personal best mile.
- Sprinting to a personal best was Emilio Calderon, who ran a 6.93 in the 55m. Manuel Mendoza also set a personal best in the 55m (7.03).
- Another personal best was set by Cameron Mitchell (Racine, Wis.). Mitchell ran a 1:34.31 in the 600m.
- In the 200m, Strother set a personal best.
Next week, the Cougars compete at the Chicagoland Championships, hosted by North Central in Naperville, Ill. on Saturday February 15.
