Nimsakont Sets Career-High in Battle with St. Norbert

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's basketball team hosted the Green Knights of St. Norbert College this afternoon, inside Geiseman Gymnasium. The game started tight, but the Green Knights found a way to break forward, as the Cougars fell 88-55. CUC is now 4-19 (3-11 NACC).

Before today's game, graduate student Mikalah Ellis (Chicago, Ill.) and graduate assistant Jaylene Wade (Lansing, Ill.) were honored for their contributions to the program.

Inside the Box
  • Sydney Nimsakont (Glendale Heights, Ill.) had herself a night, scoring a career-high five three-pointers and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line, leading the team with 23 points.
  • Khaliah Reid (Naperville, Ill.) followed with 17 points and a team high four assists.
  • The Cougars shot 45.5% from beyond the arc and shot 75% from the line.

How It Happened
First Quarter
The Green Knights picked up an early and-one, but Reid answered right back with one from beyond the arc.

Reid would pick up another layup before St. Norbert would grab six unanswered points. However, their run was short-lived as Aniyah Hinton-Henry (Gary, Ind.) made a layup which sparked a 6-0 run for the Cougars to tie the game back up at 11-11, capped off with a three-pointer from Nimsakont.

Yet the Green Knights took off again, and finished the quarter ahead, 21-12.

Second Quarter
In the second quarter, Grace King (Fairland, Ind.) scored the Cougars' first four points while Nimsakont had two huge three-pointers late in the quarter.

Reid also banked a three-pointer, but the Green Knights continued to grow their lead, limiting the Cougars. CUC was down 41-25 into the break.

Third Quarter
Nimsakont kicked off the second half by banking both free throws. CUC was held scoreless for the next few minutes but came back strong with back-to-back threes from Nimsakont and Reid.

Nimsakont dropped yet another three and two free throws made by Reid at the end of the quarter, put the score at 62-39, in favor of the Green Knights.

Fourth Quarter
To begin the final quarter, Nimsakont and Reid were perfect from the free throw line. With just over three minutes to play, Alina Paul (Elmwood, Park, Ill.) put her name on the scoresheet with another three-pointer for the Cougars.

Nimsakont then completed an and-one, Hinton-Henry secured another layup, and Hannah Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) got in on the three-point action to close out the game. The Cougars couldn't quite catch up to the Green Knights and fell 88-55.
