RIVER FOREST, ILL.- The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars women's basketball team played at home against Judson University. After gaining momentum quickly, the Cougars maintained their lead and defeated Judson University by ten, with a final score of 71-61.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Naveya Jackson (Sun Prairie, Wis.) led the Cougars with a total of 23-points and four steals, tying her career-high in points.Â
- Sophia Pedraza (Carol Stream, Ill.) reached double-digits with 13-points, six steals and five assists, setting a new career-high in steals.
- Abby Dykstra (Yale, Mich.) ended with 11 points, making three, three-pointers.Â
- Abby Kulig (Carol Stream, Ill.) added in a career-high five blocks while adding in eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
- Linley Southern (Decatur, Ill.) picked up a career-high nine points while contributing five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Â

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENEDÂ
FIRST QUARTER
The Cougars scored first with an early layup by
Ai Yonemura (Yachiyo, Chiba-Japan), but the Eagles retaliated quickly and landed a three-pointer to steal the lead. Pedraza quickly matched this energy with a three-pointer for the Cougars, establishing a two-point lead, 5-3. Yonemura continued her strong offense with a jumper to add two. Getting involved in the game, Kulig contributed with a layup, assisted by Pedraza. Pedraza remained a prominent player on the floor, hitting a fastbreak layup off an assist by Yonemura, followed by another layup from Yonemura herself, pushing the Cougars into double digits at,13-9. Coming in off the bench, Jackson got to work quickly with a jumper. Dykstra kept things moving with her specialty as she hit a three-pointer assisted by Southern. The Cougars concluded the quarter with a layup from Jackson and another from Southern, extending their lead to four points. The quarter ended with the Cougars leading at 22-18.Â

SECOND QUARTER
Dykstra was first to score in the new quarter, scoring two consecutive three-pointers. Building on this offensive momentum, Southern landed a jumper, assisted by Kulig. Judson responded with a layup of their own, bringing them within a ten point deficit. With five minutes remaining in the half, Jackson took a tough drive to the basket and drew the foul, successfully landing a free throw. Judson's next couple points came from free-throws but Jackson equalized by successfully making both of her free throw attempts. Pedraza contributed with an addition of two points to the scoreboard, scoring two free throws in separate plays before Jackson was able to sink a three-pointer as the quarter ended, leaving the Cougars ahead by 15, 38-23.

THIRD QUARTER
Judson was first to score in the third quarter with an offensive board and put back, attempting to close the gap of the Cougars 13-point advantage. Both teams exchanged scoring drives, with Kulig hitting a jumper and Judson responding with a layup. Pedraza stood out this quarter, contributing four points, including a layup and two free throws. Further extending their lead, Kulig made a layup, assisted by Southern. Jackson continued to compete, adding a layup and free throw. Judson ended the quarter with four consecutive scoring plays, including free throws, a layup, and tip in, yet still trailed the Cougars by 12-points, 55-43.

FOURTH QUARTER
Jackson was the first to score for the quarter, with a layup coming nearly three minutes into the quarter. Judson responded with a layup of their own, which kept the Cougar lead at 12. Gaining momentum, Judson added four points to the board, cutting the lead down to a single-digit lead of just four points. However the Cougars responded, with layups from Kulig and Jackson. The teams then exchanged points, but the Cougars maintained a ten-point lead, 71-61. Yonemura finalized the game with a free throw for the Cougars, securing a victory over Judson with a final score of 71-61.Â
