RIVER FOREST, ILL.- The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's basketball team traveled to Romeoville, Ill. for an exhibition game against Lewis University. After hard efforts, the Cougars were defeated by the Flyers with a final score of 94-32.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX

• Naveya Jackson (Sun Prairie, Wis.) led the Cougars with a total of nine points.
• Kira Holliday (Roselle, Ill.) made an impact, contributing five points and getting things going for the Cougars. 

 
HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF
In the first half, Holliday was the first to score for the Cougars with a three-pointer, which followed an 18 point deficit against Lewis. Continuing to battle, Grace King (Fairland, Ind.) executed a layup, shifting the momentum for Ai Yonemura (Chiba, Japan), who then made a three-pointer, bringing the Cougars to a total of eight points. Despite the Flyers extending their lead out to 32, the Cougars continued working, with Linley Southern (Decatur, Ill.) successfully making two free throws. Building on this momentum, Hannah Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) landed a jumper assisted by Abbi Dykstra (Yale, Mich.), adding two points. Recovering from a turnover, Abby Kulig (Carol Stream, Ill.) scored on a step-back jumper in the paint, marking the last point in the half for the Cougars, closing out the first 20 minutes trailing 51-14. 
 
SECOND HALF
Holliday once again got the scoring in motion for the Cougars with a layup to start the half. Following this, Jackson capitalized on a steal with a jumper of her own. As the game entered its last ten minutes, Southern came up with a steal then connected with Jocelyn Chammas (Chicago, Ill.) for a jumper, elevating the Cougars to 20 points. Working hard on Cougar defense, Chammas secured a steal of her own that sent the Cougars back on offense quickly where Jackson would secure one free throw after finding her way to the charity stripe. Jackson continued to contribute, assisting Sophia Pedraza (Carol Stream, Ill.) with a layup on their next offensive possession. Falling even further from Lewis, CUC maintained their hard efforts, with Jackson scoring a layup assisted by Kulig. Holliday then passed to Dykstra for a three-pointer to help them find some rythym late in the game. The Cougars ended the game with Jackson putting up four points in the last 30 seconds off a jumper and layup, bringing the team with a total of 32 points. The Flyers ultimately defeated the Cougars with a final score of 94-32. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
