RIVER FOREST, Ill. – It's Thanksgiving week but that doesn't mean the action stops for Concordia University Chicago (CUC) athletics. Check out what our teams are up to.
Women's Basketball (0-5, 0-0)
The women's basketball team played one game this week, traveling to St. Paul, Minn. to face North Central University (Minn.). It was a close matchup, but the Cougars ultimately fell 60-54.
Naveya Jackson (Sun Prairie, Wis.) led the charge, scoring 18 points and registering five rebounds. Following Jackson was
Grace King (Fairland, Ind.), who totaled 12 points and nine rebounds.
Hannah Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) picked up a career-high 10 rebounds while
Kira Holliday (Roselle, Ill.) recorded eight rebounds.
This week the Cougars only have one game. They will host Lake Forest College on Tuesday, November 25 at 6:00 pm.
Men's Basketball (1-3, 0-0)
The men's basketball team headed to Oregon to compete in the Schumann Classic.
On day one, the Cougars faced George Fox University and picked up their first win of the season, 78-66.
Vic Garrett (Chicago, Ill.) and
Darrian Williams (Garland, Texas) each picked up a double-double. Garrett totaled 15 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, while Williams followed with 14 points, a career-high 10 rebounds, and two steals.
Tommy Zimmer (Steger, Ill.) picked up a career-high 11 points, one rebound, and two assists.
On the final day of the Schumann Classic, CUC competed against the host school, Pacific University. The Cougars clawed their way into overtime but came up just short, 81-76.
Ryker Johnson (Fond du Lac, Wis.) led the squad with a career-high 20 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Williams followed with 15 points and eight rebounds. Garrett recorded another double-double, with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals.
Sebastian Hill (Decatur, Ill.) also picked up 12 points, a career-high, and also had five rebounds.
This week, CUC will travel to Michigan to face Alma College on Saturday, November 29, at 2:00 pm.
