River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars women's basketball team welcomed the Cardinals of North Central College, where the Cougars played hard, but ultimately fell to the Cardinals with a final score of 73-50.

- Ai Yonemura (Yachiyo, Chiba-Japan) led the Cougars with 22 points, along with three rebounds and eight steals.
- Grace King (Fairland, Ind.) followed up with 13 points and nine rebounds.
- Abbi Dykstra (Yale, Mich.) had eight points and four rebounds.
- Along with Yonemura, Kira Holliday (Roselle, Ill.) and Emma Nickerson (Lake City, Mich.) walked away with three rebounds.

Here's What Happened
First Quarter
The Cardinals were the first to score. The Cardinals went on with a 4-0 run before Yonemura put the Cougars on the board. Yonemura continued to score for the Cougars, bringing them within two with two driving layups and some free throws. Heading into the second quarter, the Cardinals were up 14-8.
Second Quarter
The Cougars led the scoring to start off the quarter with a free throw made by
Jocelyn Chammas (Chicago, Ill.). Dykstra landed her first three-pointer of the night, bringing the score up to 12-16. Dykstra managed to sink another three-point jumper for the Cougars, helping them to slowly catch up with their opponents. The Cougars were not able to score for about four minutes of game time, falling behind after multiple three-pointers were made by the Cardinals. King was able to end the scoring drought with a layup, helping to push the Cougars into halftime trailing 38-21.

Third Quarter
Three and a half minutes into the quarter, the Cardinals were the first to score with a three-point jumper. King was able to score for the Cougars for the first time this quarter with a layup, followed up with another two layups. The Cougars headed into the fourth quarter with a heavy point deficit of 55-28.Â

Fourth Quarter
The Cardinals sank a three-pointer, putting them onto the board for the first time this quarter. Yonemura was able to get into the paint and make a layup, along with a beautiful three-point jumper, putting the Cougars behind 62-33. King and Yonemura became a dynamic duo on the court with jumpers and layups, finally putting the Cougars to a score of 69-40 around the five minute mark. Chammas was also able to get a layup in with under two minutes remaining; Nickerson tossed in some free throws as well. The Cardinals took the win with a final score of 73-50.
