Esports
Esports played two matches this week.

In Smash, the Cougars played the ACC Lumberjacks and won 2-0. In game one, CUC came out strong early. James Bruxvoort (Holland, Mich.) had a stellar performance on Dark Pit, taking all twelve of the opponents' stocks, only losing two of his own in the process, leading the team to a 10-0 victory in game one. In game two, the Cougars were able to take the Lumberjacks' first six stocks with Zelda. Then Chrisovalanti Charisis took two stocks with his Ganondorf, before Daniel Pineda (Chicago, Ill.) scored his first game win of the season, taking the last four stocks and giving the Cougars a 6-0 victory. CUC is now 1-3. The team will have a bye week this week before returning to action on Tuesday, October 28, to take on Augustana College-Gold.

In Overwatch, CUC competed against Blugold Esports Varsity. Despite some early struggles in game one, the Cougars won 2-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Connor Bleazard (Saint Joseph, Mo.) took control of the match on tank to lead the team to victory, going 38-4-5 with 12 dmg, protecting his team from 10k damage. CUC took to a push the point style map for game two. The Cougars used multiple different angles of attack to disrupt the control style from Blugold Esports Varsity. Luis Cortes (Maywood, Ill.) and Connor Lewandowski (West Dundee, Ill.) created chaos with stat lines of 16-4-5 with 8k damage and 20-1-6 with 12k damage, respectively, to clinch the game two win and go up 2-0 in the series. In game three, the Cougars played on one of their most played maps from last season, Kings Row. Their experience led the Cougars to a perfect defense, not allowing Blugold Esports Varsity to touch the objective once. Damian Avalos (Chicago, Ill.) and Julia Pataluna (Commerce City, Colo.) kept the team thriving and able to easily focus on targets. Pataluna went 4-3-3 with 5k healing while Avalos went 10-7-2 with 4k damage and 5k healing. CUC is now 2-2. The Cougars will have a bye week before returning to action on Friday, October 31 against University of Illinois Springfield JV.
