HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF

In the first quarter, the Cougars showed resilience, but faced early challenges as they struggled to convert on offense. After falling behind 3-0 early on, a tip-in from MacGregor would bring them within one. After a few back-and-forth possessions, a free throw from MacGregor would tie things up three apiece. After a quick response from the Eagles, a defensive rebound turned layup for Reid would level things up at five. With the Eagles going on a 15-3 run to close the quarter, the Cougars would fall into a hearty deficit.

Struggling to get things going on the offensive side, the Cougars wouldn't see their first points of the quarter until three minutes in while the Eagles ran away with an 11-0 run to start the quarter. The Cougars fell behind by as much as 26 in the quarter, but buckets from Reid, Hinton-Henry, Sydney Nimsakont (Glendale Heights, Ill.) and Courtneye Schneider (Plainfield, Ill.) would chip away.

SECOND HALF
With the Eagles keeping the pressure high, a quick 9-0 would be broken up with a solo free throw from Hinton-Henry. The Cougars would see a jolt of energy off a jumper from Reid paired with an steal from Linley Southern (Decatur, Ill.) turned second jumper for Reid.

With Reid keeping her hands hot, an opening layup would mark the first quarter the Cougars struck first. Unable to overcome the large deficit and combat the intense Eagle offense, falling 92-42.

The Cougars will be back in action as they travel North to take on Lakeland University. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
