Green Knights Best Cougars

DE PERE, WIS. – The Concordia University Chicago Cougars traveled to Wisconsin to take on fellow Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) opponent St. Norbert College in their second NACC match up of the year. The Cougars, now 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference, fell to the Green Knights, now 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference by a score of 71-48.

INSIDE THE BOX
  • Joel Watts (Homewood, Ill.) led the Cougars with ten points, six steals, three rebounds, and two assists.
  • Kenton Pryor (Chicago, Ill.) led on the defensive end with six rebounds while adding four points and one block.
  • Jacob Collicott (Lafayette, Ind.) picked up five points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
In typical Cougar fashion, the first points of the day came at the hands of Pryor, putting CUC up 2-0 to start. With back-to-back points for the Green Knights, a layup from Collicott would even things right back up.

As the Cougars struggled to find rhythm from deep, the Green Knights would capitalize and go ahead by as much as 13 in the first half. Struggling to shoot from the three, CUC would go 1-10 from deep and trail heading into the half.

SECOND HALF
Needing to get things moving in the second half, early free throws from Ryker Johnson (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and back-to-back layups from Watts would put points on the board after suffering through a near ten minute scoring drought. With the Green Knights extending out to as much as a 23 point lead, the Cougar were forced to battle back from a deficit. Threes from Collicott, Johnson, Elijah White (Sheboygan, Wis.), and Sam Hillmann (Green Bay, Wis.) would keep things moving for the Cougars, but ultimately fall short of battling with the Green Knights.

The Cougar will be back in action on Friday, December 20th as they travel to take on North Central College in a newly adjusted game time. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm while coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
