FOND DU LAC, WIS. – The Concordia University Chicago Men's Basketball team took the trip to Wisconsin to take on the Marian Sabres, winning 90-83.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Justin Greenlee (Brown Deer, Wis.) led the Cougars with 23 points, six steals, five rebounds, two blocks, and two assists.
- Jordan Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) followed behind with 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
FIRST HALF
The Cougars struck first with two quick layups from
Jacob Collicott (Lafayette, Ind.) put the Cougars up by four. With the Sabres making their climb back, a clutch three from
Emanuel Wilson (Wheaton, Ill.) gave the Cougars the 13-12 advantage.
A back-and-forth battle exchanged the lead until the Sabres jumped out to an eight point lead over the Cougars. A steal from Greenlee would lead to a jumper in the paint from Matthews to give the Cougars the one point lead while a steal from Matthews right afterwards would lead to a Wilson layup and force the Sabres to take a timeout.
The Cougars would hold the lead for the remainder of the half and close with a four point lead.
SECOND HALF
Coming into the second half firing, the Cougars would jump out to as much as a six point lead following a fastbreak three from
Joel Watts (Homewood, Ill.).
With the game seeing the two teams exchange leads for the first ten minutes of the second half, the Cougars jumped out to as much as an 18 point lead before closing the game with the 90-83.
