Alex Sikora Hired As Assistant Athletic Trainer For CUC Athletics

RIVER FOREST, ILL. — Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Assistant Athletic Trainer, Alex Sikora, to the athletic training staff.

"We are very excited for Alex to join our Athletic Training staff," Interim Director of Athletics, Janet Wolbert, had to comment. "Throughout the interview process, her passion for supporting student-athletes to ensure they are able to play at their best, while being proactive in her treatment, was very evident.  She is direct and honest in her communication, while also showing compassion for what the student-athletes are handling in all aspects of their time at Concordia. I believe she will be a phenomenal asset to our department and campus."

Sikora comes from Athletico Physical Therapy, where she worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. For Athletico, she worked directly with Glenbard West High School in assisting their athletic training needs. For Glenbard West, Sikora was responsible for the care of more than 1,200 athletes, ranging in a wide variety of sports. She also helped to mentor students from North Central College and Northern Illinois University as a clinical preceptor. As well as keeping track of medical records and important documents for all of the student athletes.

Prior to being at Athletico, Sikora worked in the Athletic Training Student Association as President while working towards her master's degree at the University of Indianapolis. In this time, she has reported three separate research experience projects, mostly revolving around microvascular oxygenation recovery. Throughout her master's program, she assisted as an athletic trainer for Butler University's men's soccer and women's tennis programs, University of Indianapolis football, Decatur Central High School, Perry Meridian High School, and Lawrence Central High School.

In Sikora's additional work experience, she has worked for ATI Physical Therapy as an Exercise Specialist and Rehabilitation Technician. Additionally, she spent time in the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Fitness Center and The Chiropractic Wellness Center. As a volunteer, Sikora has assisted at the GLVC Indoor Conference Championships, NCAA Division II Super Region Three Championships for wrestling, and multiple other events for the University of Indianapolis. While getting an experience at both the Division I and II levels, Sikora looks to bring her talents to the Division III realm.

Sikora graduated with her degree in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State in 2018. She then went on to receive her graduate degree in Athletic Training from the University of Indianapolis in 2021.

Sikora will be starting immediately in her position as Assistant Athletic Trainer for CUC Athletics.
