AURORA, ILL.. -- In their season finale, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars took the field to take on the Aurora Spartans, ultimately falling.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Jarred Tabor (Crystal Lake, Ill.) picked up the only goal on the day while Zach Cicero (Chicago, Ill.) picked up the lone assist.
• Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) grabbed 24 saves on the day and four groundballs.
• Zachary Lewandowski (West Dundee, Ill.) and Justin Headley (Baltimore, Md.) followed on the defensive side with groundballs a piece.
• Aidan Vizi (Bethel, Ct.) and Bryant Howe (Philadelphia, Pa.) each caused one turnover on the day. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougar defense couldn't withstand the Spartan offense as the Spartans jumped to a 13-0 lead in the first period.
• Relying solely on the defensive strength, the Cougars locked in and held the Spartans to seven goals in the second period while seeing a handful of offensive opportunities. 
• Working hard on the defensive side, three consecutive shots from the Cougars halfway through the third period would be the first opportunity for the offense to get to work. 
• Shortly after the string of offensive burst for the Cougars, Tabor was able to sneak one into the back of the net off a dish through traffic from Cicero.
• Unable to convert for the remainder of the game, the Cougars ultimately fell to the Spartans.
