RIVER FOREST, ILL. — As the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's lacrosse team took to the field, they also had some celebrations ready to go. Four seniors were celebrated after today's matchup in Zach Cicero (Chicago, Ill.), Sean Dooley (Ocala, Fla.), Aidan Vizi (Bethel, Ct.), and Amir Cavic (Des Plaines, Ill.). In their game, the Cougars took on their sister school rival, Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW). After an explosive first half, the Cougars would be defeated with a score of 14-6.

To start off the game, the Falcons quickly went up 4-0. With a huge roll of momentum behind CUW, CUC had to find a way to start chipping away at the lead. Picking up immediate back-to-back goals, Tabor scored a goal and then Cicero came in for one of his own off of the faceoff 4-2.
Finishing off the first quarter, CUW grabbed two more in the net and had the lead at 6-2. To start off the second quarter, Vizi snuck in his first goal of the day, thanks to a Justin Headley (Baltimore, Md.) assist 6-3. With the Cougars sneaking up right behind them, the Falcons added on two more to a lead of 8-3. Grabbing his second goal of the day, Vizi found some room with the help of Tabor to cut the lead in half 8-4. To finish off the first half, CUW would score one more to lead 9-4.
The third quarter was dominated by the Falcons as they scored five more goals at 14-4. Multiple Cougars were getting shots on goal, but the CUW goalie was strong in net and kept CUC off the board. However, the Cougars would take their opportunity to turn up the heat in quarter four. They scored two more goals before the game ended, from Tabor and Headley, and completely shut out CUW.
The Cougars late break of energy would be too late as they ended with a loss to the Falcons 14-6.
The Cougars will be staying at Concordia Stadium this week as they host Illinois Institute of Technology on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Coverage for all of our sports can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
