Ploch Earns First Career Goal In Cougar Loss

RICHMOND, IND. — Opening up their season on the road, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's lacrosse team traveled to Earlham College for some non-conference action. Even with a couple first goals of the season, the Cougars were unable to get the win and fell 15-3 to the Quakers.

Inside The Box Score:

  • Jarred Tabor (Crystal Lake, Ill.) started off in shining fashion with his first two goals of the season.

  • Triston Ploch (Wenatchee, Wash.) picked up his first career goal and first career assist.

  • Leading in ground balls, Justin Headley (Baltimore, Md.) picked up six, with Carter Jedras (Mt Prospect, Ill.) following behind with five.

  • Headley also lead in caused turnovers with four.

Starting off the first period, Earlham went straight to the goal as they quickly went up 3-0 to start the game. Looking to stop their momentum, Zach Cicero (Chicago, Ill.) was able to force a turnover, but the Quakers got the ball back quickly to score another goal. At the start of the second period, Earlham was able to score one more goal to make it 5-0. This lit a fire for the Cougar squad as Headley won the face off and Tabor immediately turned around and scored his first goal of the season. However, even with a couple of great Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) saves, the Quakers ended up leading 13-1 going into the half.

Coming into the third period, the Cougars started on the attack with a couple of shots from Ploch. Headley, Jedras, and Aidan Vizi (Bethel, Ct.) were able to cause a couple of turnovers to give the ball back to the offense, which resulted positively. Ploch then had his first career goal and brought the score to 13-2. However, the Quakers immediately responded and brought it to 14-2.

In the fourth period, it was clear that both teams were starting to figure each other out. Both teams were able to score one more goal each, Tabor picking up his second of the season. This concluded with a Cougar loss of 15-3 to the Earlham Quakers.

The Cougars stay on the road as they travel to Lake Forest on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game. Coverage for all of our sports can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
